Special Granular Sub Base (SGSB) creates a solid gradable surface that is ready for topping with road crush. Common uses include sub bases of driveways and roads. Great for rough surfacing during construction phases, before finishing phases.
SGSB is blasted, crushed and screened to 3” minus with fines left in for optimal binding and compaction. For best results, compact after application. Compaction locks the product together like jigsaw pieces making the surface very stable.
Good for filling slightly muddy areas no more than 30 cm / 12” in depth. Areas deeper than 30 cm / 12” a coarser product should be considered, such as a 5” minus or larger. As well, if your site is very wet and muddy, we recommend the 5” minus and larger products instead of SGSB because they have better drainage.
This product is made from blue basalt.

Course Subgrade Crush (5” minus) with fines is excellent for creating weight bearing surfaces. As with the SGSB, the Course Subgrade Crush is still gradable and contains fines to create ideal binding and compaction. When compacted this product will lock together like puzzle pieces creating an incredibly strong sub base for your project.
Course Subgrade Crush is best suited for larger fills and wet areas. Often used in areas with poor drainage, in landscaping where elevation adjustments are needed, or where heavy weight bearing capacity is required such as logging roads.
Course Subgrade Crush has fewer steps to its production process, and we price it accordingly, making it an economical option.

We do NOT accept…
We except some materials for tipping at our quarry site to be recycled. We charge a small fee for clean dirt and soil, and accept rock and gravel to be tipped free of charge.
All materials must be absolutely clean! Tipped materials may not include any plastic, garbage, concrete or contaminated materials. (Free from chemicals, fuels, oils, paints etc)
We strive in all ways to be conscientious stewards of the land and the community. Our quarry does not have the facilities to reprocess contaminated materials so we ask that those be taken to appropriate locations in town.
Advanced notice is required for this service. Please contact us for more information.
